4th and 5th Graders: Come Serve at Wednesday Mass!
While every student and adult participates fully in the celebration of the Mass through prayer, song, and worship, students in 4th and 5th grades are also invited to serve in liturgical ministries as readers, altar servers, and members of the cantor choir at the Wednesday parish Masses the school attends. These ministries provide a meaningful opportunity for students who are ready to serve with reverence and confidence to grow in faith, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the beauty of our parish liturgies.
St. Gabriel School students in 4th and 5th grades are invited to serve as readers (lectors) at our Wednesday parish Masses.
Proclaiming God's Word is a meaningful way for students to grow in confidence, leadership, and faith while serving our school and parish community. Students who sign up will:
Attend one required reader training after school from 3:00–4:00 pm in the church. Parish staff will walk the students to the church after school. Parents will pick up their child at the church.
Practice approaching the ambo, using the microphone, and proclaiming their assigned Scripture reading aloud.
Receive their assigned date(s) and reading(s) to take home and practice with a parent before serving at Mass.
Be scheduled to read at one or more Wednesday School Masses associated with that training session, depending on the number of students who have signed up. There are 2 slots per Mass for readers.
We look forward to helping our students grow in confidence as they proclaim God's Word with reverence and joy.
